Osgood-Schlatters Disease
During activities that involve a lot of running and
jumping, the pull of the front thigh muscles (quadriceps)
can place tension on the tendon that connects the
kneecap to the shinbone. In Osgood-Schlatter
disease, the tendon may begin to pull away from the
spot where it attaches to the shinbone, causing pain
and swelling.

 Action: extends leg at knee and flexes thigh at hip

 Insertion: greater trochanter of femur (head)
 Action: abducts femur at hip and rotates medially;
major lateral hip stabilizer

 Origin: front of pubis between crest and symphysis
 Insertion: middle 1/3 of femur
 Action: adducts thigh at hip; assists in thigh flexion
and medial hip rotation
