The Lower Digestive System By: Harrison Young, Cole Rogers, and Jaiden Fishbein The Digestive System In Whole The digestive system processes he food that we eat and breaks it down for nutrients that our body can use for our survival. The digestive system consists of, at the start, the mouth, and the salivary glands. Then moves down to the stomach to break down chewed food, and then goes through the small intestine where nutrients are removed from food. Then it goes through the large intestine to get rid of all remaining things the body can use and then it gets disposed of through the anus. Out Portion That We Are Studying In our group, we are studying the lower part of the digestive system, which consists of the liver, the small intestine, and the large intestine. The top portion consists of the teeth, the salivary glands, the stomach, the throat, pancreas, the esophagus, and the mouth. The Liver First thing, lets start off with the beginning part of the lower digestive system, which is the liver. One of the few main functions of the liver is to create bile, which is used in fat digestion.
