What is an 'organ'?
An organ is an important part of your body which helps you to stay alive in
shape. Every organ has an important job.
Your whole body is covered and filled with organs, they mostly overlap each
other.
The 6 Major Organs of your body are:
 Heart
 Brain
 Lungs
 Stomach & Intestines
 Kidneys
 Liver

Now, lets go into each organ with detail
The Brain
The Brain, also known as the 'Cerebral' is one of the major
organs in a human body.
It controls the whole body. It also keeps your heart, stomach,
kidney and other vital organs working. All the thinking and
feelings happen in the brain.
A fact on the brain....
The Heart
The Heart, also known as the Cardiac is the most important
organ of your body. It pumps blood throughout your whole
body (first to the lungs).
The heart is placed in the middle of your chest, tilted
slightly to the left. And because of this, your left lung is
smaller than your right lung.
As a child (age till 17), your heart will be the size of your
fist. As an adult (18+), your heart is the size of two fists.
Fact - If you have a heart attack, people call it 'Cardiac
Arrest'.
Your Kidneys
Kidneys are also known as the renal. Usually, you have
two kidneys in your body. The kidneys filter the blood
to remove the waste and extra water or salts, when
they do this, your urine is made.
Like the heart, your left kidney is smaller than the
right kidney to accommodate your liver.
People can survive with one kidney, but it produces
consequences.
The Liver
Also called the hepatic, produces bile juice. A juice
that is changed to urine in your kidneys. It processes
digested food and removes waste and toxins from your
blood. The liver contains the 'gall bladder' which is an
extra storage bag for the waste that doesn't go into
your kidneys.
Your Lungs
The lungs are also called the 'pulmonary'. Likewise the kidney,
you have two lungs. The lungs help you to breathe. When
oxygen enters your body, it first goes to the lungs, then to the
rest of your body. It is like a balloon. The air goes in and your
lungs become bigger, as you breathe out, your lungs become
smaller.
Try breathing very fast, and see your body become bigger and
smaller.
The Bladder
The Bladder is located
like this.
The bladder is not a major organ, but you cannot live
without it. It is a bag that hold your urine until you feel
the pressure. It is located before your anus. When your
bladder is full , you find the urge to go to the toilet.
Intestines
You have the small and the large intestines. The small intestines
presses the urine to make sure that there are no 'heavy parts' in it
and then passes it to the bladder. The large intestines contain your
stool/excrement and it moves all the way to when you need to use the
washroom for stool.
Problems in the intestines are called:
Gastric
Fiber
What is fiber?
Fiber is an important nutrient in your body that helps your intestines to
work properly. It is found in fruits and vegetables usually.
Without fiber, what would happen?
Without fiber, your stool and urine would become very sticky and stick to
your intestines. It would take a long time to pass out. Like this, you
would have stomach aches and the stool would take a lot of strength.
This is called suffering from 'constipation'.
“
1. Your liver is the heaviest organ in your body. It weighs about
1.2kg.
2. If you unfold the large intestine, it is as long as a football pitch.
3. The small intestine is about 6 or 7 meters.
4. The skin has the most quantity in your body.
