Unit Two: The Classical World and the rise of Christianity and Islam
In this unit we will study the Classical era civilizations of Persia, Greece, and Rome all of which form the
foundations of what is often called “Western Civilization.” We will look at the collapse of the Roman Empire
and Europe’s Medieval Ages. We will look at philosophical, political, and religious trends throughout this era
including the beginnings of and expansion of Christianity and Islam. We will investigate international systems
of trade and the spread of ideas.
