And in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…. LIFT OFF! Welcome aboard the NASA Space Shuttle. We will be soaring into our universe in order to compare and contrast the different planets in our spectacular solar system. Before we arrive to our destination in outer space, it is important to know the different and unique characteristics of each planet. Did you know that Earth measures 12,000 kilometers in width? All of the planets vary in dimension but it’s truly amazing to think how they got to be that size! Another unique characteristic and way of classifying our planets is observing whether or not they have rings. Earth has 0 rings. Once again, this characteristic portrays how each planet in our solar system stands out amongst the rest! Lastly, the planets’ rotation duration on their axes is very important to know. Although each planet rotates at different speeds, it takes Earth 24 hours to make one full rotation! After discussing these few, yet unique, characteristics of our planets, we are now ready to soar into the solar system and learn even more about our extraordinary universe and all that it entails. Before we arrive to our destination in outer space, it is important to know the different and unique characteristics of each planet. Did you know that Neptune measures 49,500 kilometers in width? All of the planets vary in dimension but it’s truly amazing to think how they got to be that size! Another unique characteristic and way of classifying our planets is observing whether or not they have rings. Neptune has 5 rings. Once again, this characteristic portrays how each planet in our solar system stands out amongst the rest! Lastly, the planets’ rotation duration on their axes is very important to know. Although each planet rotates at different speeds, it takes Neptune 16 hours to make one full rotation!
