Descriptive Measures
Push the + button after each data point to enter them into your TI-30XA.
Once all data points are entered:
(1) push the x button [2nd ( ] for the sum of the data points
(2) push the x2 button [2nd ) ] for the sum of the squared data points
(3) push thex button [2nd x2] for the sample mean
(4) push the xn-1 button [2nd √x] for the sample standard deviation
If you need to remove a data point, push the - button [2nd +] after re-entering the data
point you wish to remove. If you need to clear all data, push the CSR button [2nd 7] or
turn your calculator off.
Storage
Push the STO 1 to put a number in memory slot 1, STO 2 to put a number in memory slot
2, and STO 3 to put a number in memory slot 3. To recall a number in memory, push
RCL 1, RCL 2, or RCL 3 depending on which memory slot the number was stored.
Turning the TI-30XA off will not erase the numbers stored in memory.
Combinations
To do the combination 7C4, type [7] [2nd][8][4][=]
Fractions
Use the [a b/c] button. In this way, you won't have to deal with a lot of parentheses.
Suppose you have a Binomial distribution where n=7, p=1/3, and you are asked to find
P(X=4). Then type:
[7] [2nd] [8] [4] [X] [1] [a b/c] [3] [yx] [4] [X] [2] [a b/c] [3] [yx] [3][=]
Putting a number in the denominator
Use the [1/x] button.
