SPACE Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and is the second smallest planet in the solar system. Venus is the second planet from the sun and is the second brightest planet after the moon. Earth is the third planet from the sun. The Earth is the only planet in the solar system not to be named after a Greek or Roman deity. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It is two and a half times bigger than all the other planets combined. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. It is the second largest planet in the solar system. Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It was the first planet discovered with the use of a telescope.
