Chn will learn: to name and locate the world’s five oceans, using world maps, atlases and globes to help them • To identify seasonal and daily weather patterns in the United Kingdom; to identify the location of hot and cold areas of the world in relation to the equator and the North and South Poles. 3A 3B What if I live in…? Chn will learn: To understand similarities and differences through studying and comparing the human and physical geography of an urban and rural area of the United Kingdom. Is it really round? Which way shall I go? Chn will learn: To name and locate the world’s seven continents and five oceans, using world maps, atlases and globes. Chn will learn: To build on their prior experience of reading simple maps and globes and of making journey lines, plans and simple maps and use and construct basic symbols in a key. What’s In A Region? Investigating Our Local Area- Technology Where and Why does the Earth rumble? Identify regions and counties of the UK and understand geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of a region of the UK. Chn will learn: To use fieldwork to observe, measure, record and present the human and physical features in the local area using a range of methods, including sketch maps, plans and graphs, and digital technologies. Chn will learn: To describe and understand key aspects of physical geography, including: rivers, mountains and volcanoes. Where on Earth? Who are the global caretakers? Chn will learn: Where shall we go on Safari? Chn will learn: About the terrain, and the dry and wet seasons experienced in these areas and are introduced to the concepts of conservation and endangered animals. Chn will learn: About Europe, Spain and the region of Catalonia, and then focuses on Barcelona, enabling the children to compare and contrast with other areas and regions of the world. Water’s Never ending Journey What, Why Where? Sustainable Tourism Chn will learn: How the water cycle works and how water is constantly changing form (liquid, solid, and vapour). Chn will learn: About sustainable tourism in the United Kingdom, North and South America, and Australia by exploring the national parks. What a state! California Welcome to Argentina Chn will learn: About California’s origin, its physical landscape and man-made features, climate, industry and economy. Chn will: Explore Patagonia as a region in South America, contrasts and comparisons are made between Patagonia and North Wales, specifically the area around Bala where the settlement’s founder and many of the settlers came from.
