Sociology 547: Gender and Sexuality Professor Karin A. Martin Winter 2014 Office: 4126 LSA 936-0525 [email protected] This course will offer an introduction to theory and empirical research in the sociology of gender and sexuality. It will assist students in preparing for the Gender and Sexuality prelim exam, although the course will be useful for anyone with interests in these areas. We will review some of the classic pieces in the subfield as well as attend to what’s new, emerging, and exciting. We will focus on the theoretical perspectives and analytical tools that offer sociologists the most assistance in developing empirical research. Required Readings Dude, You’re a Fag, by C. J.
