SERVICE CASE
FOR TESTS
OF CURRENT LOADS
TECHNICAL AND
OPERATIONAL DOCUMENTATION
1.
APPLICATION
The service case was designed for special demand of groups occupied with startup of electric power
stations. The range of cases includes a range of necessary functions that optimize the startup and
commissioning work.
The W-24A service case is designed for testing loads of current and voltage transformers. The voltage
transformer circuits of substations have to work under load. Lack of appropriate load causes the
transformers to operate in inappropriate accuracy class, thus making the energy meters calculate the
values wrongly. The W-24A case allows the measurement of circuit loads and in case of lack of
appropriate load the calculation of resistance values to be applied in order to load the circuits
appropriately. The transformer circuits can be loaded with the special RD3X50W resistors made by
Energoaparatura.
2.
CONSTRUCTION
The faceplate of the W-24A case is presented in fig. 1. The W-24A case contains:
three 500VA autotransformers,
three 100VA current transformers,
three phase current and regulated voltage meters,
three 58V, 10A grid transformers,
three overcurrent protectors,
a cutoff switch for the current circuit,
measurement and power supply cables.

The W-24A service case is equipped with three 500VA autotransformers. The setting range for voltages
is from 0 to 260V AC. Their use is optional.
The case allows for simultaneous supply of three currents (0-15A AC) and three voltages (0-250V AC).
The faceplate features a three phase meter for displaying the current values of regulated voltage and
current. The service case is also equipped with a 3x58V AC (100V AC interphase voltage) phase voltage
source. This voltage is used to apply 100V AC to the measurement circuits of e.g. power consumption
meters. On customer demand there is also the possibility of manufacturing a device for a different
voltage.
WARNING!
All measurements conducted with the use of W-24 case shall be conducted pursuant to safe work
practice guidelines for Low Voltage operating devices.
3.
STARTUP
The three phase voltage shall only be connected with use of the safe laboratory cables provided
with the case. Before applying the voltage set the autotransformer dials to the 0V position. In case
of break in the circuit switch the circuit off with the “PRĄD” marked switch.
During load testing it is also possible to check the sequence of the phases. In order to perform that
switch the subsequent phases with the S-type safety located on the front side of the case. This
safety also switches off the 58V AC circuit. The current measurements shall be performed with use
of test pincers.
