Greek Mythology Presentation – The Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus (Gardner’s pg. 105) The Olympian are a group of 12 Gods and Goddesses - Zeus and followers, were named after their dwelling place Mount Olympus. In a group of two people, you and your group member will present information about how the God or Goddess contributed into Greek culture and the role that they played within Greek society. Objective: Through research and presentation, the students will have a better understanding and recognize references to Greek mythological God/Goddess found in the art history. You can choose different formats for the presentation: A Powerpoint or Prezi presentation A posterboard A painting that tells a story A skit based around a story of the God/Goddess The following information must include in your presentation: Background information: Name of God/Goddess & Roman name Physical and emotional description of God/Goddess Struggles or Accomplishments Interesting story Cultural effects & contributions to Greek culture List of Gods/Goddesses: Zeus (Jupiter) – God of the sky, and rule of the Olympian Gods Hera (Juno) – Goddess of marriage, wife and sister of Zeus Poseidon (Neptune) – God of the sea, brother of Zeus Hestia (Vesta) – Goddess of the hearth, sister of Zeus Demeter (Ceres) – Goddess of grain and agriculture, sister of Zeus Ares (Mars) – God of war, son of Zeus and Hera Athena (Minerva) – Goddess of wisdom and warfare, daughter of Zeus Hephaistos (Vulcan) – God of fire and metalworking, son of Zeus and Hera Apollo (Apollo) – God of light and music, son of Zeus and Leto Artemis (Diana) – Goddess of the hunt and wild animals, sister of Apollo Aphrodite (Venus) – Goddess of love and beauty, daughter of Zeus and Dione Hermes (Mercury) – fleet-footed messenger of the Gods, son of Zeus Presentation Rubric Deadline: Sept. 30th Criteria Points Allotted Visual presentation 25 Oral presentation to the class/ At least 5 minutes long 20 Met deadline / Well prepared by the deadline 10 Content/ Required information/ Accuracy of information 25 Collaboration with Peers and Comprehension 20 TOTAL POINTS 100 Points Earned
