Animal and Plant Cell Lab
This lab will allow you to view a live cheek cell
(animal cell) and a live elodea cell (plant cell) which
is a plant that is used in fish aquariums. You will view
and identify basic organelle structures and notice
similarities and differences in the two cells.

to lower the stage.

1. Put your microscope on low power. Once
you get it focused, move to medium
power and then to high power. Focus
and draw what you see in the high
power circle.
2. Label the 3 organelles that are visible in
your sketch. (cell membrane, nucleus,
cytoplasm)

How to set up your microscope for the next class:
1. Flip the switch to turn the microscope light off.
2. Use the course adjustment knob to move the stage to
its lowest position.
3. Turn the nosepiece so that its on the low power
objective.
