Axis - An imaginary line going from the north pole to the south pole. The earth spins on this line. Earth's Tilt - The earth's axis is not straight up and down; it leans at a 23.5degree angle. Orbit - The path that a planet travels as it goes around the sun. Reflection - The bouncing of light off of an object. The moon appears to shine because it reflects the sun's light. Gravity - The force that pulls the moon toward Earth, keeps the planets in orbit, and attract objects towards each other. Satellite - A natural satellite, or moon, is a celestial body that orbits another body. Revolution - The circling of one object around another object in space. A planet revolves around the sun. A moon revolves around a planet. Rotation - When a planet or moon turns all the way around or spins on its axis one time. Phase– Period of time in a cycle or sequence Waxing – Increasing; growing Waning – Decreasing; shrinking Crescent – Thin, curved shape; less than half full Gibbous – More than half full
