Important points When converting to Islam you
must do the Five Pillars of the
religion (submit to Allah, prayer,
charity to the poor, fasting and
make the pilgrimage to Mecca
called the hajj)
 Koran governs all aspects of life
 If a country chooses to use
religious law it is called Sharia law
(laws based on the Koran)
 Islam was founded on the Arabian
Peninsula in the city of Mecca
 Spread and created empires-the
ruler of the empire was called a
caliph

