Suwanee, Georgia, May 10, 2017 – Murrelektronik presents Emparro, an innovative power
supply unit with maximum efficiency and minimum power loss. Achieving efficiencies of up to
95%, the Emparro series sets a new bar for power conversion. The efficiencies achieved
through the new design also reduce the heat generated in the unit increasing the life of the
power supply.
Modern machine builders and machine users are focusing their attention on power
consumption. Our new power supply units focus on efficiency because energy is a precious
commodity and unused machine energy increases costs.
Emparro sets new efficiency standards - thanks to an innovative circuit concept.
Emparro has a 95% efficiency rating - an impressive result leaving only 5% of the energy
unused.
Compared to power supplies with an efficiency rating of about 90% and a resulting power loss
of 10%, Emparro reduces power loss by 50%. This is an impressive improvement that has
positive effects on your wallet - especially over the life of the machine. Because of Emparro's
lower power loss, the power supply unit generates less heat. This means less thermal stress for
the individual components within the housing and increases Emparro's lifetime. The same
applies for the components installed near Emparro. Those units benefit from lower heat
exposure than conventional, less efficient, power supplies and can help in the selection of more
compact control cabinets. Thus, they last longer.
It's not only efficiency that makes Emparro an advanced power supply unit:
Emparro supports startup: Emparro offers Power Boost, providing up to 50% more power for
up to 4 seconds. With this Power Boost function you can start higher loads and capacities
without requiring a second power supply unit.
Emparro optimizes overload behavior: In the event of short-circuits or overload, Emparro's
output voltage is controlled with a constant current. It is limited to 100% of the nominal current
(or to 50% in Power Boost mode). This constant power function reliably protects the power
supply unit from damages caused by overloads and is an important aid when starting up.
Emparro communicates: An alarm contacts is present on the Emparro circuit for you to take
advantage of remote diagnostics: It signals short-circuits, overloads and high temperatures.
Emparro is stable: The all-metal frame ensures optimum EMC characteristics and the wide
operating temperature range from -25 to +60°C ensures optimal performance without derating.
Emparro is a global player: Murrelektronik's new power supply units feature a wide input
voltage range from 85 to 265V AC (90 to 250V DC) and with seven different models to cover
different voltage ranges of 12, 24 and 48VDC output power, this makes Emparro suitable for
worldwide use.
