Dear colleagues!
We invite You to take part in the work of ІІІ international scientific and
practical Symposium «Islamic research in modern Russia and the
CIS: Achievements, problems, prospects».
Symposium will be held on 20-21 March 2014.
Ministry of culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ministry of education
and science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences,
Administration of Kazan, the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the
Republic of Tatarstan, the Russian historical society (Kazan branch,
department), the Institute of culture of peace (UNESCO), the International
humanitarian Academy «Europe-Asia», the Russian Islamic University,
Russian Organization of solidarity and cooperation with the peoples of Asia
and Africa (Republican branch), the Society of Orientalists of the Russian
Federation participate in organizing and holding this event.
The purpose of this international scientific and practical
Symposium is scientific and theoretical analysis of condition and problems
of the Muslim world in the XXI century, the capacity of countries, regions
and peoples practising one of the most dynamic religions nowadays. It is
proposed (offered) consideration of the role and place of Muslim countries
in the international space and its regional dimensions. Study of the
processes and trends of internal development of the Muslim countries and
communities also need to unite the efforts of specialists in the field of both
theoretical and applied research.
It is also assumed philosophical-theoretical and historical -cultural
realization of the experience of the development of Islamic studies in
Russia and CIS countries for the post-Soviet period. It is offered to
consider the problems of modern Islamic thought, education, Koran,
theosophy and religious studies with the aim of strengthening work of
Russian and foreign specialists in the field of study of the history and
culture of the Muslim civilization.
The following problem- thematic blocks will be included:
1. Islam and the Muslim countries in the system of world politics
2. Countries of the Muslim world in the system of regional
relations: security and cooperation issues
3. Military-political potential of the countries of the Muslim
world at present
4. Foreign policy of Muslim countries: a multi-vector policy and
priorities
5. Regional particularity of the Arab-Muslim, Turkic-Muslem,
Persian-Muslim and South-Eastern areas of Islam
6. Some conflicts in Islam regions
7. Islamic civilization in the era of global transformations
8. Processes and tendencies of internal development of the
Muslim countries and communities
9. Political processes in the modern Muslim world: the
confrontation of ideas and the power elites
10. The victory of revolutions in 1911-1912 in Tunisia, Egypt,
Libya and Yemen, and the establishment of new regimes
11. Political systems in Muslim countries: the proportion of
religious and secular elements
12. Tendencies of economic dynamics of Muslim countries in
conditions of globalization
13. Social transformations in modern Muslim countries
14. Ethnic peculiarities of Muslim communities
15. Religious and secular beginning in the cultural sphere
16. Women in an Islamic society
17. Religion and authority in Islamic UMMA
18. The Muslim community in non-Muslim environment
19. Theological questions of modern Islam. Questions connected
with Koran.
20. The Islamic system of education in Russia and the CIS
21. Muslim philosophical thought: usage of the past and the
present
22. The Muslim community in non-Muslim environment
23. The role of Islam in social and political life of Russia and CIS
countries
24. Problems of the modern Islamic studies: foreign and Russian
experience
25. Islam in the Republic of Tatarstan: history and modernity
Department of international history and area studies, political history
and world politics, religious studies and international relations of Kazan
(Volga) Federal University will intensively take part in Symposium.
For participation in the conference you should submit your
applications before March 01, 2014 and the text of the report (up to 10
pages with 1,5 interval) no later than May 01, 2014, the Text must be
submitted electronically in the MS Word, font -Times new Roman, font size
- 14, line spacing - 1.5, footnote - subscripts.

After the Symposium the text of the report will be published.
