Vocabulary:
Rock- a naturally occurring solid of the Earth’s crust consisting of two or
more minerals
Mineral: any pure substance found in rocks
Geologist: a scientist who studies the structure of the earth and it’s history
Fossil- a bone, shell or plant that has turned into rock/ or make a mark in
the mud over hundreds of years
Igneous: formed when melted rock is pushed up through the Earths crust.
Formed from molten rock- rock which has been made by fire.
Metamorphic: a changed rock from extreme heat and pressure. Formed by
heat and pressure.
Sedimentary: a rock formed from dust or sand settling in lakes and oceans.
(usually made under water)
