14 Non verbal audio concepts Kinesics is the study of body language. Facial expression, posture and gestures effect the communication process. And how nonverbal can overtake the verbal message. Proxemics. Is how space affects the communication process. Levels of space= intimate distance 0 inches to 18in. (meeting a friend for coffee) Personal distance= 18 in 3.5ft Social Distance= 4ft to 12 ft. Beyond 12ft is public distance. Theory of proxemics is Edward Hall. Paralanguage is the study of how elements of the voice like rate, pitch, volume and tone are used to communicate sarcasm, ulterior messages. The way we in which we say things =Vocalics. Creates nonverbal message that either supports or contradicts the verbal message.
