Since military vehicles are constantly roving, they require that all communication devices stay in constant current mode. In addition, military specifications require that all electronics do not generate EMI that interferes with defense operations. SOLUTION Wall Industries designed a compact power supply saving space, providing little EMI interference, and powering the GPS units providing way finding for military men and women. An important feature of this custom power supply is its ability to remain in constant current mode (always on). The device adapts to a wide variety of airborne platforms. The overall configuration provides significant platform installation and endurance benefits without sacrificing targeting system performance. MEDICAL CHALLENGE This medical device manufacturer was purchasing a power supply from an off-shore manufacturer. Unfortunately, the power supply in several cases caused sparks and flames in patient’s homes. The issue caused the manufacturer to recall all the devices and find a way to reengineer the unit so that safety was guaranteed. SOLUTION Wall Industries designed a custom power supply with additional components to prevent power surges and ensure safety for patients and their families. As a result patients feel confident using these devices and have renewed their faith in the brand. INDUSTRIAL/MANUFACTURING CHALLENGE This manufacturer of warehouse distribution equipment and industrial conveyer belts was struggling with the issue of belts breaking under the stress of weight and heavy usage. Their existing power supplies were failing, causing production to stop and wait for parts or repair and diminishing productivity. One of their large box retailers was threatening to move to another supplier if the problem was not addressed immediately. SOLUTION Wall Industries studied the problem, designed a custom replacement power supply with high input surge ratings that far exceeded the harsh environment. Now their conveyer belts can handle heavy loads, high demand, and do not break down unexpectedly. Productivity is back and they have kept an important brand name retailer and their largest customer. HIGH TECH/TELECOM CHALLENGE The client needed a custom power supply for their multiple output repeaters and base stations for voice and data wireless applications. The repeaters were designed to be wireless device aggregation points as a key component in their network. They needed a power supply that would provide superior power density and reliability for their customer, a global Tier 1 provider. With ISO standards driving their organization, quality and reliability were paramount. We had to make sure that their monitored hot standby equipment for failover was compliant with their service level guarantees. SOLUTION Wall Industries reviewed the client’s specifications and quality standards and tailored a DC/DC power supply that would work within the transfer stations to support repeaters and base stations for their wireless voice and data network. Wall provided a highly reliable custom power supply that could survive a rugged environment with no forced air and intense temperature fluctuations. Our client’s network was so reliable that it was acquired and integrated into one of the largest global telecommunication provider’s fabric. ENERGY CHALLENGE This architectural and industrial lighting manufacturer needed a light source for high bay lighting in warehouse applications in addition to architectural and medical lighting. There was no power supply that could handle the heat generated from these small, but powerful, custom light fixtures. SOLUTION Wall Industries designed a highly efficient power supply for their plasma encasement that reduced the overall footprint of the lighting by approximately 50%. Formally the client needed two power supplies for each encasement because nothing was available on the market to meet the power and dimension demands.
