To inspire student interest in artificial intelligence (AI) by exploring applications of AI and its impact to human beings' life. 2. To stimulate students' critical thinking and imagination through the study of AI. Teaching/Learning Methodology Teaching and Learning Method Intended Subject Learning Outcome Remarks Lecture 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 fundamental principles and key concepts of the subject are delivered to students; guidance on further readings is given. Tutorials/ Demos 1, 2, 3, 4 supplementary to lectures and are conducted with smaller class size; students will be able to clarify concepts and to have a deeper understanding of the lecture material; problems and application examples are given and discussed. Assignments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Through working assignment and endof-chapter problems in text books, students will develop a firm understanding and comprehension of the knowledge taught. One long assignment will ask students to read a science fiction and to identify the AI techniques described in the literature. Research and essay/report writing Assessment Methods in Alignment with Intended Learning Outcomes 1, 2 or 3, 4, 5, 6 Specific Assessment Methods/Tasks Each student will do research on a relevant AI topic chosen by the student and write up an essay/report of 3000 words. Essay/report writing - Each student is required to write up an essay or to produce a written report; - Accuracy, organization, technical content, and the presentation of the essay/report will be assessed.
