(2100 BCE)
The Sumerians developed a system of
writing called cuneiform. Sumerians used a
wedge-shaped stylus to write on clay
tablets. This writing system helped them to
record laws, taxes, and trade exchanges.

The Sumerians developed the wheel for carts for
farmers and traders and for chariots for soldiers.
Additionally, the wheel was used by potters to
spin clay, and metal workers to sharpen tools!
