Classifying Polygons
Terms
Polygon-closed plane figure with the
following properties
Formed by 3 or more line segments
called sides
Each side intersects exactly two sides,
one at each endpoint (vertex) so that no
two sides with a common endpoint are
collinear
Polygons
A polygon is convex if no line that
contains a side of the polygon
contains a point in the interior of the
polygon
A concave polygon is one that is not
convex
Classifying Polygons
A polygon is named by the number of
sides
Regular Polygon
A regular polygon has all sides
congruent (equilateral) and all angles
congruent (equiangular).
