between Theatre, Church Music and Creativity.
Following the amalgamation of the Flinders Street School of Music and the Elder Conservatorium
at the end of 2001 He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Voice), And
completed his Honours in 2003. In 2007 he graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Arts (acting)
from the Adelaide Centre for the Arts, and was nominated as the most outstanding student.
2006 was filled with rigorous performance engagements, amongst them: Macbeth, La Traviata, La
Boheme, King Lear, Kiss me Kate and a theatrical muse on the horror genre Touch me I’m Sick.
Eugene performed the role of the 1st Voice in his graduating production Under Milk Wood under
the Direction of Rosalba Clemente.
In 2005 he featured in workshop productions of Pinter’s’ Silence and Duerrenmatt’s The Visit and
the Adelaide premier of Stephen Sewell’s Russian Eggflip. He played the title role in Brecht’s
magnum opus The Life of Galileo, and also attended The Ronald Dowd Summer School for
Singers in Sydney after a recommendation from Malcolm Donnelly and a grant fro the South
Australian Youth Arts Board.
2004 saw him appear in Ray Rains’ original production of Chornobyl Story for the Adelaide
Fringe. He featured in award winning filmmaker, Dion Tsimilikis’ short farce Suburban Hitler –
an Urban Myth and in Liam Jensen-Kohl’s award winning The day IT happened. He also found
time to successfully take on the role of musical director of the Monteverdi Singers.
In 2003 he completed four successful tours with Co-opera, these credits include AngelottiJailer/Tosca, Frank/Die Fledermaus (2 seasons) and Oberon-Snug/A Midsummer Nights Dream
for schools. In August He composed original music for the Bakehouse Theatre’s production of The
Glass Menagerie directed by Peter Green. And In September Eugene performed the title role in the
University of Adelaide’s production of The Marriage of Figaro Directed By Tessa Bremner and
Conducted by Carl Crossin. He graduated in the same year with a Bachelor of Music Honours

Eugene.Raggio.cv/7
Eugene has appeared as soloist with the Adelaide Harmony Choir and VoiceWorks Choir
Conducted by Carl Crossin (2001). Celebrate! the final concert series of the former Flinders Street
(2001), The Australian Music Festival (2000), and new music concerts, also feature in his
performance experience.
Eugene has been Finalist and Semifinalist for awards including South Australian Youth Awards
Showcase, Nescafe Big Break, Young Australian of the Year and Channel 9 Student of the Year
Awards in which he won the Vocational category in 1998.
Eugene was accepted into the music performance degree at the age of sixteen, Eugene has worked
to achieve a consistently outstanding level of work in not only in performance but also academic
and theoretical subjects. His work at ACArts has seen him meet extraordinary literary and
theatrical challenges as a young actor.
Alongside his work as a performer, he has taken time more recently to travel and also to devote
some time to writing his own work. He has been composing seriously since 1995 and writing since
2002. Eugene’s forays as a playwright began officially with Hey Angie Baby - a gritty suburban
drama for which he also wrote music. After much careful development he gathered a professional
cast and crew to shoot in 2005, the film was finished in 2007. Inspired by the work of Dali in 2006
he directed his first stage miniature Awoken by the Sting – a fantasy for two actors and solo violin,
for an industry showing. His recent travels included a trip to Mediterranean Europe to absorb
further biographical and cultural details for the subject of his first full length play Lily of the
Marshes which has already undergone a 3 week studio workshop and has become a consuming
passion which has shaped his life journey - he plans to direct it on completion.
Eugene has recently been accepted into the International Film School Sydney and has just
commenced a two year Advanced Diploma of Film and Media, to further expand his skills as a
writer director
