THE PLAGUES OF EGYPT : EXODUS CHAPTER 7 – 13.
Ten Plagues, judgments of God befall the Egyptians. God judged the Egyptians by sending
them the symbol of their false gods in abundance. As the return of Jesus our Lord draws
near, God is slowly removing the veil and allowing the world to celebrate their false gods in
abundance (and their sin), thus we see the explosion and growth of false religion.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
2 Tim 3:13. But evil men seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the
truth, and shall be turned unto fables
Many of the Pharaohs were named after the false gods of Egypt, as the Pharaohs were
considered to be Divine. I.e. Rameses was a Pharaoh, named after RE or RA, the Sun god,
and Meses (or Moses) meant “taken from” or “given by”. It was an Egyptian name. Moses
was found by the Pharaohs daughter drifting in a basket and because she drew him from the
Nile River, (The Nile was perceived as a god), she named him Moses, meaning “given by”.

POSSIBLE SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION FOR THE PLAGUES.
The Nile turning into blood most likely was Red tide, toxic algae that causes discolouration of
the water, and kills marine life. Frogs populated the river Nile and because of the toxic
water, sought fresh water and invaded the cities. Gnats and flies from the hot desert were
the result of rotting fish on the banks of the Nile. The flies caused livestock to become sick
and die. Flies are also the cause of body boils as we know in central Africa today. The
hailstorm damaged crops, and this was followed by swarms of locust that caused the sky to
turn black as they veiled the light of the sun. The death of the first born was most likely the

result of the firstborn being fed more than the siblings, and with bacteria in the food which
could lead to food poisoning, and because the first born would have been served bigger (at
least double) portions, death would result.
MOSES – A TYPE OF CHRIST
Moses stands again as a type of Jesus Christ who alone is worthy to break the seals of
judgement in the last days. (Rev 5:6-9). The judgements that were poured out upon Egypt
are a type of the catastrophic judgements that are poured out upon the earth in the last days.
Most of the ten plagues upon Egypt are repeated in the book of Revelation.
1st Plague – Nile turned to blood (Ex 7:14-24 compare with Rev 8.8, 16.4)
5th Plague – Disease (Ex 9:1-7 compare with the pestilence in Rev 6:8)
6th Plague – Boils (Ex 9:8-12 compare with Rev 16:2,11)
7th Plague – Hail (Ex 9:13-35 compare with Rev 8:7, 16:21)
9th Plague – Darkness (Ex 10:21-29 compare with Rev 8:12, 16:10)
10th Plague – Death (Ex 11:1-12 compare with Rev 6:8, 9:15)
