Invitation to submit abstract/ paper to the Congress
Dear Sir/ Madam
It is a matter of great pleasure and honour for us to extend an invitation and hearty welcome to the members
of Sociology Association, Uttarakhand (SAUK) and other participants to the Vth National Sociological
Congress being organized at Kashipur from March 08- 09, 2014. Those who wish to present their papers in
the Congress are requested to submit the abstracts of their papers latest by February 10, 2014 on any of the
sub panel themes.

The registration fee is payable through Crossed Demand Draft to be drawn in favour of the
Convener, Vth National Sociological Congress, Kashipur, District - U. S. Nagar, Uttarakhand.
Connectivity
The host city Kashipur, District U.S. Nagar, Uttarakhand is well connected by the major cities like
Dehradun, Delhi, Agra and Lucknow by train and buses. However if someone wants to travel by air, for
them Pantnager will serve as one of the most convenient entry point. Pantnagar, about 40 km away from
Kashipur has an airport from where one can have hired taxi or own conveyance to reach Kashipur.
Local Transportation
The organizing college is located on the heart of the Kashipur city. The delegates may travel comfortably
from the railway station, at Kashipur and also at bus station, Kashipur through Rickshaw to the host
institution/ place of their stay. The delegates coming from Dehradun and Delhi may travel respectively by
Dun Express and Ranikhet Express, Train number 15013 or, by Sampark Kranti Train No. 15035 to
Kashipur.
Boarding and Lodging
The host institution would provide free boarding and lodging facilities only to the delegates and the
accompanying persons (from March 7 evening to March 9 afternoon only) who would register up to
February 10, 2014. The delegates are requested to bring light woolen clothes particularly those who wish to
visit Nainital and its adjoining tourist places.
SAUK – The Sociology Association, Uttarakhand
Established in June, 2007, the SAUK is an academic association of the sociology professionals of
Uttarakhand. It acts with the vision, “To have an objective understanding of contemporary society, culture
and economy, contribute to develop social engineering for valid human resource development attuned to the
need of changing new world order, ensure partnership of sociology profession for policy planning and
sustainable development of society through empirical and action research and conducting impact assessment
studies of development policies and programs and their impact, achievement, viability and relevance”, and
the mission, “to make available an academic platform to those who really longed to contribute their part
through knowledge sharing for excellence of sociology profession and to make it a guiding force for
formulation of development policies for forward looking nation and state”.
It has professional membership of ISS too. So far, the SAUK, since its inception has organized four national
level conferences and honoured Prof. Yogendra Singh the doyen of Sociology with the ‘Letter of Honours’
for his out standing contribution to Sociology profession and also conferred its prestigious ‘Life Time
Achievement Award’ on Dr. P. C. Joshi, a known social researcher, teacher and a policy advisor. Besides
this the SAUK has also conferred upon its prestigious awards at the occasion of its IVth National Congress
on the academicians and academic administrators who have contributed to the cause of the enhancement of
quality education in the field of higher education. Shortly it is on the way to publish its research journal
entitled, Uttarakhand Sociological Bulletin’. It provides an academic platform to the budding sociologists
and the sociological professionals to get together, to interact on some current issues of social and national
importance and also disseminate the new ideas, new findings, new thoughts etc. The present Vth
Sociological Congress devoted to the women’s issues in India is an addition of its academic activities.
Instructions for submitting the Abstract/Paper
Participants willing to present their research papers are requested to submit their ‘Paper/ Abstract’ in the
prescribed ‘Abstract Format’ as given below in soft and hard copy with registration fees. The abstracts
of only those who register for the Congress before February 10, 2014 will be included in the book of
‘Abstract’. Abstracts without registration fee and not in the prescribed format will not be accepted.

For English Use only Times New Roman or Arial Font of 12-point-font size. Use single space.
For Hindi
Use Kruti Dev 010 font of 14-point size.
Title
Use capital letters for English, and bold font for Hindi
Author(s)
Initials, Name and Sur-name in single continuous lines. Omit titles and Degrees. In
case of two and more authors - mention the initials name and sur-name of the paper
presenting author followed by other authors in single continuous lines.
Institution
Give the institution name of the first (main) author as briefly as possible in brackets
immediately after his/her name.
The Text
The paper/ abstract should contain- Title, Preamble, objectives, methods,
findings and conclusion respectively
