2017 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Partnerships Program for Education and Training
The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Human Development, Education and
Employment (DHDEE) and the Galilee International Management Institute – Israel (Galilee), is pleased to
announce the signing of a cooperation agreement to establish formal relations and a memorandum of
understanding to establish a scholarship program, effective in 2017, offering 500 scholarships per year for
five years, for citizens of OAS member states to receive training a variety of short-term professional
development courses, ranging from 12-14 days in Nahalal, Israel.
OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, signed the agreements with Galilee on November 28th, 2016 to
cement this collaboration. Galilee is offering over courses in the 4 official OAS languages, and in areas that fit
the 8 OAS priority areas in the OAS Strategic Plan for Partnerships and Development 2006-2009.
Of the 500 scholarship offer, the DHDEE is hereby informing member states of the availability of 445 tuitionfree scholarships with an estimated value of USD $2,770 - $3,000 based on the selected course. These
scholarships are for consideration by member states to provide additional training opportunities to citizens
based on training needs. Member States shall contribute to the cost of roundtrip air fare, books and
materials, health insurance and cost of living expenses, estimated at USD $3,500 for double occupancy, visa
and immigration charges for their scholarship recipients. The DHDEE has agreed to act as liaison between
Galilee and the Member States for the signing of individual MOUs between the two parties for those
additional offers.
