JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: REPORTS TO: GRADE: CLASSIFICATION: ATTRIBUTES: EXPOSURE RISK: SUMMARY: Medical Assistant I Nurse Manager 5 Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Category I Under general supervision provides direct patient care and related support services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Obtains patient medical history, vital signs, prepares patient charts and dismisses patient following provider’s plan, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies. Weight: 20% 2. Assists with non-invasive, direct patient care procedures, such as: EKGs, vision and/or hearing screenings, waive testing, and assists with medical examinations as specifically directed by professional staff. Weight: 15% 3. Administers injections properly according to CDC and OSHA guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures. Weight: 15% 4. Ensures that the provider flow is maintained appropriately. Weight: 10% 5. Maintains stock of all required medical supplies in exam rooms. Weight: 10% 6. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs. Weight: 10% 7. Practices appropriate safety, environmental, and infection control procedures. Weight: 10% 8. Ability to float / assist in all specialty areas. Weight: 10% 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited school of medical assistants or equivalent years work experience based on 2:1 ratio (2 years experience equals 1 year education) Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. 1-3 years experience in a primary health care setting preferred Must be knowledgeable of personal computers to include internet/intranet navigations Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS: Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or administering injections. Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly. Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers. Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials/injections. Physical: Standing most of the time.
