NICE quality standards and guidelines
NICE quality standards are a concise set of prioritised statements designed to
drive measurable quality improvements within a particular area of health or
care. They are derived from the best available evidence such as NICE guidance
and other evidence sources accredited by NICE. Quality standards sit alongside
and complement guidelines.
NICE guidelines are systematically developed statements based on the best
available evidence, and include recommendations intended to guide decisions.
The primary role of NICE guidelines is to provide recommendations on "what
works" in terms of both the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of care
interventions and services.
