Template for letter
The NBVMA Council has determined that letters from veterinarians which support applications to the
NBVMA should contain specific information to assist committee members in their review of an
applicant’s skill set. Therefore, while you are welcome to provide information that you deem relevant
to the application, we will require that you complete the following form as part of your letter of
support.
If you comment on the number of hours that an applicant has worked, please remember that we are
interested in the number of hours the applicant has worked in veterinary technology, which may be
very different from the number of hours the applicant has worked with you. The expectation is that a
grandfathered RVT would exhibit, at minimum, the skills and knowledge expected from a newly
graduated RVT. The task list below is based on the CVMA task list for accredited veterinary technician
programs – not all skills may apply to your practice. If a skill does NOT apply, please indicate with a *
and use the space after the chart to explain further as needed.
