Ad Hominem
By Ayah Wahab
Definition
Ad hominem: ‘Latin for “to the man”, this fallacy
refers to the specific diversionary tactic of
switching the argument from the issue at hand
to the character of the other speaker.’
Example
Say two people were arguing about climate
change, and Person 1 says that Person 2 is
incorrect because Person 2 spends their free
time playing Pokémon GO.
Pokémon Go has nothing to do with climate
change. Person 1 attached Person two, therefore
Person 1 is guilty of ad hominem.
