R COLORANA o Magnetic FashionTM - new effects from COLORANA® RG Mineral AS Rana Gruber Group Magnetic Fashion TM - Magnetic forces as an artist Products with magnetic properties like magnetite are able to create Magnetic FashionTM when applied on a substrate in the presence of a magnetic field. Magnetic FashionTM gives the stylist the opportunity to create art during the application of the magnetic material on the substrate. ® Magnetic FashionTM is developed by COLORANA in collaboration with Mjølan Videregående Skole - automotive coating section. Textural effects composed by magnetic material influenced by magnetic forces are broadly known. Among other applications, magnetic powders are frequently used for the control of welded joints in pipelines as they enable the detection of cracks and holes due to electric currents applied on the tested steel. Magnetic FashionTM is the art among the different possibilities and applications. COLORANA® iron oxide black pigment is able to create Magnetic FashionTM due to its special magnetic properties when applied on a substrate in the presence of any magnetic field. The origin of the magnetic field could for example be permanent magnets, also called ferrites, in the physical state of solid magnets or powders being part of magnetic sheets, paints, pastes or adhesives. Magnetic FashionTM could also be created by the magnetic field from any electric current, electromagnet or moving electric charge. The Magnetic FashionTM occurs at the surface of the substrate in only those layers that contain COLORANA® magnetic black iron oxide. All other paints with non-magnetic materials will be left unaffected. The magnetic field applied to the backside of the substrate has to be strong enough to influence the magnetic iron oxide particles’ distribution on the substrate’s front side. Magnetic FashionTM can be obtained from both water- and solvent based systems. The exhibited examples are: - Magnetic FashionTM male on an iron oxide yellow substrate. - Magnetic FashionTM heart on a COLORANA® red substrate. - Magnetic FashionTM female on a TiO2 white substrate. The examples are based on a solvent based acrylic Magnetic FashionTM formulation, applied onto non-iron Q-panels in the presence of a magnetic field. Proposed applications: - Mobile phone covers - Signs - Automotive coatings - Coil coatings - Powder coatings - Paper / paper coatings - Coating of plastic sheets - Graphic design - Art - Fashion Further information about Magnetic FashionTM is available from our marketing dept.
