City of Bowling Green RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT IRRIGATION/SPRAY TECHNICIAN PARKS AND RECREATION – GOLF DIVISION No. 16-194 (Re-Advertised) APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled The purpose of this position is to oversee/assist with the chemical fertilizer application and irrigation work at all City owned golf courses; and to assist with daily operation oversight at Paul Walker Golf Course/The Golf Course at Riverview from November – March. DUTIES: Spray Technician - performs chemical applications on golf course properties including fertilizers, pesticides, turf growth regulators, bio-stimulants and wetting agents. Responsible to maintain, repair, and calibrate all chemical application equipment; maintain and keep the chemical inventory current including the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) library and all chemical application records and logs. Irrigation Technician - primarily maintains, repairs, and operates golf course irrigation systems. Responsible for keeping the irrigation systems operational, scheduling of irrigation, installing new irrigation, purchasing irrigation supplies and repairing existing irrigation components. Additionally submits the monthly water usage report to the Kentucky Department of Water. REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma (or GED) required, associate’s degree in turf related field preferred, with two years’ experience in golf course maintenance/irrigation repair and maintenance. Must possess a current Kentucky pesticide applicators license and certification, and a valid Kentucky driver’s license. STARTING SALARY: Pay Grade 112; $29,789/yr. ($14.32/hr), plus a full benefit package. WORK HOURS: Hours may vary depending on season; 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; Monday – Friday. Weekend work required; overtime work expected.
