Citibank Makes Bonds Available to Retail Investors
Citibank a.s. is to offer individuals a new investment opportunity via purchase of selected bonds
denominated in EUR or USD. Due to the large minimum investment required upon primary
subscriptions or purchases on the market, bonds are primarily available to institutional investors
only.
“Until now, our retail clients could only participate in developments in the bond market through
investment funds that specialised in debt security instruments. Citibank’s leadership in the bond
market means we can now offer them the option to purchase investment grade paper, which we
will manage for them and pay the yield on the bond, as well arrange for the possible repurchase
of the bond,“ said Lukaš Juříček, Investment Products Manager for Citibank in the Czech
Republic.
The sale of bonds directly to retail investors in the Czech Republic, marks and important
opportunity for investors, and one which Citibank is making available to clients in many markets
around the world. Being able to invest in bonds will allow the retail investor a greater ability to
diversify their investment portfolios.
The minimum investment amount required is EUR50,000 (Kc1.5 million or USD 61.500). The
offering will include approximately 60 different bonds with maturities from between one year and
ten years. The bonds on offer will be sovereigns (government issued paper), and issued by
companies. “Our criteria for the selection of suitable debt paper is their respective credit rating
which is at the level of “A“ at the minimum,“ said Juříček.
Ask for more details about the bonds on offer at Citibank branches. Please note: investment in
debt securities should only be made on advice from an investment advisor, and should be in line
with an investor’s risk appetite.
