(NYSE symbol: C) August 25, 2005 Citibank Makes Bonds Available to Retail Investors Citibank a.s. is to offer individuals a new investment opportunity via purchase of selected bonds denominated in EUR or USD. Due to the large minimum investment required upon primary subscriptions or purchases on the market, bonds are primarily available to institutional investors only. “Until now, our retail clients could only participate in developments in the bond market through investment funds that specialised in debt security instruments. Citibank’s leadership in the bond market means we can now offer them the option to purchase investment grade paper, which we will manage for them and pay the yield on the bond, as well arrange for the possible repurchase of the bond,“ said Lukaš Juříček, Investment Products Manager for Citibank in the Czech Republic. The sale of bonds directly to retail investors in the Czech Republic, marks and important opportunity for investors, and one which Citibank is making available to clients in many markets around the world. Being able to invest in bonds will allow the retail investor a greater ability to diversify their investment portfolios. The minimum investment amount required is EUR50,000 (Kc1.5 million or USD 61.500). The offering will include approximately 60 different bonds with maturities from between one year and ten years. The bonds on offer will be sovereigns (government issued paper), and issued by companies. “Our criteria for the selection of suitable debt paper is their respective credit rating which is at the level of “A“ at the minimum,“ said Juříček.
