Developer Perspectives on the New Normal—Integrated Risk Management for Getting Deals Done and Managing Contaminated Commercial and Industrial Development Projects & Climate Change—Extreme Weather Conditions Effect on Commercial Real Estate and Infrastructure, Developer, Insurer, Banker and Industry Perspectives BIOSKETCH- Guillermo (Willy) Accame Day One 10:15 – 11:15 Day Two 1:45 – 3:15 Speaker X Guillermo (Willy) Accame has over 30 years experience and a diverse background in risk management, insurance, Brownfield redevelopment, climate change, and sustainability. He manages risk throughout Panattoni Development’s global operations, advises the company’s Investment Committees, and serves as the chair of Panattoni’s Sustainability Committee. Willy identifies environmental risks, quantifies liabilities, and develops strategies to successfully structure Brownfield property transactions. He is familiar with and routinely works with some of the largest lenders and real estate investment firms in the world. During the last 20 years, he has participated in dozens of large redevelopment projects, including the following while at Panattoni Development: • Ford Assembly Plant in St. Louis, Missouri (155 acres) • Boeing Facility in Anaheim, California (100 acres) • Samsonite Corporate Campus in Denver, Colorado (100 acres) • Solid Waste Landfill in Carteret, New Jersey (75 acres) Prior to joining Panattoni, Willy was Vice President and General Manager at WSP for 15 years, managing environmental consultants on projects throughout North America and Europe. Prior to joining WSP, Willy was a Division Manager at Greenhorne & O’Mara for 10 years where he cofounded the environmental practice. Previously, he conducted diamond exploration for various diamond companies, including Harry Winston. Willy received a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Maryland and a Master’s degree in Geochemistry and Remote Sensing from Purdue University, where he served as a research fellow with the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Office of Surface Mining, and IMMRRI. After graduation, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Maryland, where he also taught Environmental Geology. He speaks widely on a variety of risk management, insurance, environmental, climate change, and related topics.
