ESD protection, TVS devices, and EMI filtering What you get when you choose NXP for ESD and surge protection Solutions for wide application fields High-speed data lines Automotive protection General interfaces Supply lines A broad range of packages that simplify PCB design Down to ultra-small DSN0402 / 02005 inch DFN1608 for 1200 W surge protection Multi-line ESD and Benchmark protection solutions in packages optimized for the most common communication interfaces Common Mode filter A quality product from an experienced supplier NXP is strongly committed to automotive quality standards Rely on NXP, the #1 in ESD protection Advanced silicon technology for worry-free ESD solutions It takes a range of solutions to prevent the malfunctions caused by ESD pulses, surge pulses, and noise emissions ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) is the transfer of an electric charge between bodies of different electrostatic potential, as when a person gets very close to or touches a device or connecting cable. The electric pulses are very short, with voltage values up to several kilovolts. The discharge can do serious damage to unprotected electronic devices. NXP’s ESD protection devices deliver best-in-class protection against these kinds of discharge events, while ensuring high signal integrity. Surge pulses, which are generated by grid instabilities and lightning transients, are a threat to any product connected to a power source, such as a supply line or a charging port. Surge pulses are longer pulses of a lower voltage than ESD, but they contain more electric energy and can destroy unprotected electronic circuits. NXP’s unidirectional TVS diodes have high surge ratings and high reserve standoff voltages, and offer the best protection for smartphones and other mobile devices that need regular charging. ElectroMagnetic Interference (EMI), which is a Radio Frequency (RF) disturbance caused by electromagnetic conduction, can disturb wired and wireless communication. Increase use of digital signals in the gigahertz range has increased the need for EMI suppression. NXP’s Common Mode filters with integrated ESD protection provide high signal integrity, with industry-leading bandwidth and ESD performance. Unidirectional devices offer lower clamping voltage Vcl and dynamic resistance Rdyn than bidirectional devices, for superior protection of sensitive system ICs. B idirectional Strong ESD protection, with minimal impact on signal integrity, for established and upcoming network standards www.nxp.com at You’ll find more www.nxp.com/circuit protection Also, ask your local NXP representative for details. devices are typically two diodes in backto-back configuration. They’re often used as a universal solution, and are well suited for use with interfaces that carry positive and negative voltage signals. Bidirectional ESD protection also offers lower diode capacitances (Cd), which is helpful when using high-speed data lines.
