Search Extended Senior Applications Development Specialist/ Applications Development Specialist University Housing, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Applications are now being accepted for one or more Senior Applications Development Specialist/ Applications Development Specialist positions for University Housing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Senior Applications Development Specialist The Senior Applications Development Specialist works in a lead development role on the Systems Development and Support (SDS) team. They are the technical contact for system architecture, deployment strategies, programming standards, and quality assurance. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree 5 years of experience with development in a Windows environment; SQL, web application programming (client and server-side), and Javascript/HTML/CSS Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, .NET development using C#, Team Foundation Server, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services Ability to work independently and as part of a programming team Demonstrated ability in effective communication and collaboration. Preferred Experience 8 years of experience with development in a Windows environment; SQL, web application programming (client and server-side), and Javascript/HTML/CSS Experience developing test plans and working in quality assurance Experience with SiteCore CMS, Tableau Knowledge of University of Illinois systems, including Banner, the Enterprise Data Warehouse, campus authentication, and campus credit card processing systems. Experience with project management Major Duties and Responsibilities Perform analysis, design, programming and implementation of systems and procedures to address complex business needs Prepare detailed requirements, specifications, test plans, and other documentation required to guide technical development Lead development projects, platform and tool migrations Make recommendations for system architecture and deployment strategies Make recommendations for quality assurance strategies Work with other Technology Services units and campus to ensure systems meet security standards Collaborate with key stakeholders to review business procedures and make recommendations for improvement through automation Collaborate with SDS team members to develop, maintain, and monitor programming standards and procedures Evaluate new and emerging technologies Applications Development Specialist The Applications Development Specialist plans, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains databases and software applications used for the management of University Housing operations. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree Experience with development in a Windows environment; SQL, web application programming (client and server-side), Javascript/HTML/CSS Ability to work independently and as part of a programming team Demonstrated ability in effective communication and collaboration. Preferred Experience Experience with database design, T-SQL, ASP.NET, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, CMS, Tableau, SSIS Familiarity with responsive web design and web accessibility standards Experience with project management Major Duties and Responsibilities Perform analysis, design, programming and implementation of systems and procedures to address complex business needs Integrate campus enterprise systems with vendor and internally-developed systems Review business procedures and make recommendations for improvement through automation Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs and define system requirement Modify University Housing systems to accommodate changing business requirements, user needs, and technological changes. Collaborate with SDS team members to develop, maintain, and monitor programming standards and procedures This is a full-time, 12-month position.
