Complements What type of verb? • Linking verbs have predicate nominatives and predicate adjectives. • Action verbs have direct objects and indirect objects. Ask who or what receives the DO? >if there is a noun to receive it- IO DO/IO Pattern • Remember: S-V-IO-DO S-V-DO S-V Transitive & Intransitive • Action verbs can be either transitive or intransitive. • Transitive= has a DO • Intransitive = no DO (Linking verbs can NOT be intransitive!)
