What type of verb?
• Linking verbs have predicate nominatives
and predicate adjectives.
• Action verbs have direct objects and
indirect objects.

• If it’s an action verb:
1.cross out any prepositional phrases
2.Label the verb with a V
3.Label the subject with an S
4.Ask who or what receives the action?
>if there is a noun to receive it- DO

Transitive & Intransitive
• Action verbs can be either transitive or
intransitive.
• Transitive= has a DO
• Intransitive = no DO
(Linking verbs can NOT be intransitive!)
