ThePalatineHillwasthefirstpartofRometobeoccupiedandtherearereconstructionsof
BronzeAgehutsinthesmallmuseum.ItiswherethelegendofRomulusandRemusisbased
andashrinethoughttobetheLupercalhasbeendiscoveredunderground.
Thehillstands40feethigh,overlookingtheForumononesideandtheCircusMaximus(where
chariotraceswereheld)ontheotherside.FromRepublicantimeswealthyRomanschoseto
livethereandyoucanseetheruinedpalacesofseveralEmperors.Palatineisinfacttherootof
thewordpalace.
