Ecuador, a South American country slightly smaller than Colorado, is an exceptionally beautiful and diverse place. It is home to over 16 million people who live in areas as diverse as the Andes mountains, the Amazon rainforest, and the Galápagos Islands. The country has one of the world's highest concentrations of biodiversity and an amazing range of climates and ecologies, including two of the world's 35 biodiversity hotspots. The country is also extraordinarily rich in its human diversity, home to a variety ethnic groups with unique identities.
