Eagle Low Air Trouble Shooting I have this low air pressure warning showing on my touch screen. What do I do now? This document will help you understand how the low air pressure circuit on the Eagle system works and how to diagnose problems with it. System Overview: The Eagle system requires a large volume of compressed air to operate properly. For this reason the main air system on the eagle has a pressure sensor in it. This sensor gives an input to the controller when there is air pressure available. There is also an air pressure sensor on the 530 loader and the 560 sizer. One or both of these machines may not be included in your system. When this document refers to a machine that is not in your system you may simply disregard that section. What to do first: When the touch screen on the Eagle displays the Low air pressure warning it means that one or more of the air pressure sensors is not completing the circuit. There are three possible reasons that you are getting this warning. • There is no air pressure available. • The valve on the machine is turned off. • The air pressure sensor is not giving the correct input to the controller, When the touch screen on the Eagle displays the low air pressure warning there are several thing that need to be done before you begin trouble shooting the electrical system. 1. Make sure that you air compressor is on and that there is pressure in the lines. 2. Make sure that all of the shutoff valves on the Filter regulator units are in the supply position. 3. Make sure that there is at least 90 PSI showing on all of the main air pressure gauges. 4. Inspect the wires from the pressure sensor to the electrical box. If the touch screen on the Eagle still displays the low air pressure warning, after you have checked all of the above items, then it will be necessary to make some voltage tests to determine where the trouble is. Trouble Shooting. CAUTION: The tests described in the following section will be done in the main electrical box of the machine with the power on. The components used in the Eagle system are “finger safe” however extreme caution must be used when working in a live electrical box. Norfield Ind. recommends that you have the following tests performed by a qualified electrician only. NOTE: The following instructions are in general terms and are intended for use with the 530 loader, the 560 sizer, and the Eagle machining center. For specific information concerning terminal numbers, and item location, you may either refer to the system schematics, and other documentation that you received with your machines, or you may call Norfield Technical Support. 1. Open the main electrical box on the machine. 2. Turn on the main power to the machine. 3. Locate the input terminal on the controller that the low air pressure sensor is connected to. 4. Check the voltage between the associated input common and one of the 24N terminals. There should be approximately 24 VDC. If there is voltage continue to the next step. If there is not voltage then the wire from the 24 volt power supply to the common is either broken or disconnected. 5. Check the voltage between the controller input terminal and one of the 24N terminals. If there is 24 Volts at the input terminal then the low air pressure sensor is bad or the wire going to the sensor is broken or disconnected. 6. If there is not 24 Volts at the input terminal and there is still the warning on the touch screen, replace the input module. 800-824-6242 • norfield.com
