What are the different types of non-verbal communication? How can non-verbal
communication make or break a speech?
As per specialist, a generous statement of our communication is non-verbal. Consistently, we
react to thousands of non-verbal prompts and practices including gestures, body language and
facial expressions, as well as unspoken understandings and presuppositions, and cultural and
environmental conditions that may affect any encounter between people (Cheery, 2015). There
are various types of non-verbal communication some of them are:




Body languages: The movement of the body conveys messages to the listener that the
speaker may or may not realize. If an individual wants to communicate efficiently body
language plays vital role with spoken words. It can be differ between cultures.
Regardless of word choice, body language will communicate real thoughts and
impressions.
Gestures: Gestures is any action that sends a visual signal to an onlooker such as
waving, pointing, and using fingers to show numeric amounts. These non- verbal signals
are seen as being so powerful and influential that some judges even place limits on what
type of nonverbal behaviors are allowed in the courtroom.
Eye contact: It is plays an important role in non-verbal communication and such things
as looking, staring and blinking can also be important non-verbal behaviors. The eye
contact enables the receiver to become part of what the speaker is saying.
Facial Expressions: It is the most observed part of our body. Facial expressions are the
keys that receiver use to determine what the speaker’s message is behind the words.

In any case, your non-verbal communication can influence the messages you send. Non-verbal
communication does not follow any rules, formality or structure like other communication.
The majority people are aware of what things leave out of their mouth, but nonverbal
communication can happen subconsciously. For example, people may be uneasy in their seats
while being interviewed for a job because they are feeling anxious. Activities talk louder than
words. They may say one thing while it is deciphered another path in view of their non-verbal
communication or other nonverbal signs. This can be a drawback to them if they are not
careful. Actions speak louder than words. In non-verbal communication, long conversation and
necessary explanations are not possible. No party can discuss the particular issues of the
messages (Bizcom_coach, 2015).
