Purpose of Teen Leadership
Lesson 1
To teach you Personal, Relational,
and Leadership Skills
In essence, how to:
 Walk
 Talk
 Make a good impression
 Present your ideas
 Think for yourself
 Work with difficult people
 Pursue excellence in the face of
difficulty
Discussion question:
 What would you have thought of me
if, on the first day of class, I had
propped my feet up on the desk,
looked sloppy, and not happy to see
you?
If you give 100%, you will be
incredibly successful!
Many of you are already in positions of
leadership. What I want to do is help you
improve those skills so you can be even
more effective. Besides having the skills of
a leader, you must also know the
underlying principles by which leaders
make decisions and lead their lives. The
bottom line is that I believe you can do so
much more than you have dared to believe
about yourselves! It’s time now for you to
believe in yourselves!
What is a Leader?
Gallery Walk Activity:

leader.
 Come up with a minimum of 8.
 List them on your butcher paper and
hang your paper somewhere in the room.
 Walk with your group around to each
group’s poster and put a check mark
next to the items with which your group
agrees.

Gallery Walk Activity: cont’d.
 Table Leaders –
 Each table use the character qualities the
class identified to come up with a 1 to 2
sentence definition of a leader.
 Write it down on one piece of paper and put
your table number on that paper.
 This is your table’s TICKET OUT THE DOOR.
