a.
Plagiarism detection software is a sophisticated web search which is used to find out if a student has
plagiarised in his/her written work. Instructors put a whole paragraph or an essay of their students in
the search criteria of the programme. Then it matches the student’s written text against the publicly
available texts on the net.
b. Animals can communicate through sound, touch, sight and smell. Some animals such as male birds
choose their mates by singing a long and complex song. Another way is the use of touch by biting,
kicking, and hitting. Animals such as chimpanzees, for example, will touch hands to greet each other
just like human beings. The third way is the use of sight. This may take the form of dancing, using light
or leaving visual signs. Bees and some birds may dance to communicate whereas fireflies use thier
own flashing codes. The last method is smell. For instance, queen ants can communicate with their
workers by smell. The queen produces different chemicals, which rub off on her workers.
c.
The British were fighting with the French, who were their traditional enemy, against the Germans,
who had been their traditional ally in the World War I. Thus, in order to change the public opinion of
the British, the newspapers started a campaign. They published inaccurate and exaggerated stories
about the German atrocities during the war. As a result of this propaganda, 60,000 British soldiers
fighting in Belgium and France died in one day.
