When the author is known, the use of the source might look like this:

election.
If the author is listed as staff or is unknown, the use of the source might look like this:
According to “Release of Resources in the Downtown Area” (“RRD”) from The New York
Times, the financial support for housing developments will bring prosperity to this highly
depressed area. “RRD” suggests the shift in priority can be attributed to the recent election.
Notice how the abbreviation for the title of the article is set up and then used.
