Plate Tectonics Choice Board
You must complete 3 squares on a separate sheet of paper by the end of class. I will give 10 points extra credit for
each additional square you complete. Be sure to include the letter for each activity you complete on your separate paper.
Staple this paper to your completed activities- make sure you answer the questions on the back!
A. Create an acronym for the layers of the
interior of the earth to share with the class!
Create & decorate a small poster display your
acronym. This must include a quick sketch of
the earth’s layers.
B. Write 5 exam questions for the future
plate tectonics test! Include the four multiplechoice answers per question.
C. Imagine you are a coal miner.
Understanding the thickness of each of
earth’s layer is a priority. Write 8 sentences
describing the thickness and composition of
each layer.
E. Write a newspaper article describing how
a volcano affects the lithosphere. What is the
most destructive part of a volcano? Explain
why volcanoes erupt, and the material that is
produced from the activities. Need at least 8
sentences.
F. Using EES textbook on pg. 296, draw each
of the three zones of volcanism. Write three
sentences to describe how these differ from
one another.
H. Write a newspaper article describing how
an earthquake affects the lithosphere. What
is the most destructive part of an
earthquake? Explain why earthquake occurs,
and how each of the 3 type of fault produces
different degrees of destruction. Need at least
8 sentences.
I. Draw a cartoon or comic strip that
describes information on the activity that
occurs each of the three fault boundaries that
are possible at transform boundaries. Be
sure to add the epicenter, focus and fault in
each diagram.
(Using your foldable will not receive credit)
D. Create a POSTER to teach your parents or
family TWO of the following choices:
Divergent Boundaries
Convergent Boundaries
Transform Boundaries
-(include 1 type of fault)
You must provide 2 real life examples!
G. Create a Rap or Poem about the plate
tectonics unit that you could share with the
class.
