Please answer the following questions using the packet of images, text and poetry.
Role of Propaganda: Pages 1-5
1. Explain the overall purpose of the propaganda you see. What images are used and how are they used to
gain support for the war effort? Why is the Belgium mentioned as something to “remember”?
2. The image on page 2 is specific to the French; discuss how the image and the words target French
nationalism.
3. Why would there be specific propaganda targeted to the Irish? Why would the Irish need special
encouragement to enter the war? (page 3)
