1. The Abolitionist Movement did not happen overnight. It took many years for it to become a significant
movement that led to the end of slavery in America. In a two paragraph essay, summarize the challenges
faced by African-Americans in different periods of time.
Paragraph Two: Discuss how certain events impacted affected free or enslaved African-Americans in the
United States. Select two (2) from below, and define and describe in detail the event and its affect on

challenges faced by sharecroppers in the south.

5. Write an essay defining a strike, lockout, and a collective bargaining agreement.
Give an example learned in class or an example of each. You may hand in a
newspaper article and use it as an example for extra credit.
6. In class, we discussed the differences between the Union and Confederate armies
during the Civil War. In one paragraph, describe two aspects of the Union army, then in
a second paragraph, counter them with aspects of the Confederate army. Consider
which armies had the advantage or disadvantage before the conflict.
