Description of content: First amendment to the Mandatory Standard SI 994 part 1. This
amendment changes the following:

Adds to the standard's scope the definition for 'air conditioners for special purposes'
(paragraph 1.1);

Amends paragraph 25.7 dealing with external flexible cords;

Adds to paragraph 30.201 dealing with isolation against fire, new requirements for
electrical devices for voltage higher than 50 volts. These requirements are based on the
American Standard UL 1995 of 2005;

Adds new requirement to paragraph 204 dealing with electro-magnetic compatibility,
the requirement to test air conditioners' electro-magnetic disorders.
Objective and rationale, including the nature of urgent problems where applicable:
Protection of human life and lowering of trade barriers.
