Take the sample of body fluid and use the pH meter to test the pH of the body fluid.
Take off protective cap and turn on pH meter.
Submerge tip of the meter into the fluid.
Wait for the meter to determine the pH (pH may fluctuate .01-.02, make an estimate)
pH less than 7= Acidic
pH greater than 7= Basic
Normal pH of human body tissue is 7.35-7.45
The pH of Mr. Cumber’s body tissue: _____________
Compose a Cause of Death Report (one paragraph) outlining the cause of death and
justification for such a conclusion.
Stage Two: The ventral body cavity is opened by a deep Y-shaped incision. The arms of
the Y start at the anterior surface of shoulders and join at the inferior point of the
breastbone to form a single cut that extends to the pubic area. Draw the incision in green
pencil (you may want to do that after you have drawn all the organs).
After the ribcage is sawn through, the abdominopelvic region can be opened like hinged
doors, to expose the internal organs. The second stage of the autopsy includes careful
examination of many or all of the internal organs. If the brain is to be examined, a
portion of the skull must be removed. The face, arms, and legs are usually not dissected
unless there is a specific reason for doing so.
Draw and label the organs: Lungs, heart, liver, stomach, small and large intestine label
A-F. Use the picture of the ventral body cavity as a guide.
Mark and label any abnormalities you perceive in the ventral cavities. Also, note here
any other abnormalities you perceive of the extremities (arms & legs). Describe, in
prose, these abnormalities below. Use and underline the following terms in your answer:
proximal distal, lateral, medial, superficial, deep.
