The ability of pathogenic mycobacteria to adapt to the hostile environment of macrophages has been instrumental in its success as a pathogen. Mycobacteria interfere with host trafficking pathways by modulating events in the endosoma ...

In brief prion or TSE agents are opsonized by complement components including C1q and C3, most likely via the classical complement activation pathway, which may aid in their targeting of the agent to lymphoid follicles. ... 44) In an experimental situation, a virus is injected into a rabbit and the rabbit is allowed to make antibodies for the viral antigen. These antibodies are then removed from the rabbit plasma and injected into a human to help deal with the same viral disease. This would be an example of A) innate i ...

We hypothesize that transgenic parasites that express immune response genes could modify the nature of the host response to the parasite. We previously generated transgenic parasites that p ...

... They suggested these “Th1” and “Th2” cells were “important regulators of the class of immune response.” The concept subsequently was applied to human immunity,2 and 10 years after the original discovery the effects of Th1 and Th2 in disease became a major research focus.3,4 Currently much of the lit ...
